Your Money!

I’ve had time to get some detail from the Royal accounts that I pointed out were released yesterday. Here are a few examples of how your money is wasted away by these scroungers.

Queen charges £14,515 to get train from Euston to Liverpool.

Queen and Phillip charged us £22,275 to go to Great Yorkshire Show

Charles and Camilla’s trip to Japan, Bruinei and Indonesia cost a staggering £655,675!

Duke and Duchess of Gloucester charge taxpayer £149,000 for trip to Australia

Andrew charges taxpayer £55,000 to fly to Sharm el Sheikh

Queen charges taxpayer £16,000 to take train from Windsor to Totnes

It’s about time that this madness was ended. More details and how you can help can be found at Republic.

Israel Seizes More Land

Israel is set on occupying even more Palestinian land in defiance of international law, the United Nations and President Barack Obama.

Israel, the big bully of the middle east, must think itself immune to international opinion and above any normal sense of justice. The only nation capable of exerting the necessary pressure on this outlaw state is the United States. Let’s hope that at the forth coming talks between Ehud Barak and George Mitchell this much needed pressure is applied in full measure. Unless Israel is brought to heel there can only be more suffering and death in this beleaguered part of our World.

Royals Scared Off?

A press conference to present the Royal accounts today has been cancelled. We all know, or should know, that these accounts are in any case far from transparent and are never properly audited, so what are they afraid of?

In addition, the Queen is asking for even more cash from us stating that there is a £5million hole in the finances. Isn’t an estimated £180million per year enough! Quite rightly the expenditure of public money by members of Parliament has come under the microscope and so to should the Royals whose lavish lifestyles we support.

Update: Just been announced that they will be published after all but NO press conference! Wouldn’t want any awkward questions now would they?

Michael Jackson RIP!

With all the horrors going on in the World at present, ranging from wars, through mass starvation to stoning young women to death, what are the headlines this morning? ‘The World Mourns the Death of Michael Jackson’ or variations on that theme. Even The Today Programme on BBC Radio4 babbled on about him for around twenty minutes.

Come on please! Keep things in perspective. He was a singer and a dancer and if you like the kind of thing that he did then he did it very well but that’s about it, he was a singer/dancer. He was also weird by any standard, had obvious mental health problems and was twice accused of child abuse. Once he paid the family off and the second time he was tried but acquitted.

Are people’s lives so emotionally repressed that they need the death of M.J. or Princess Diana to release some of that pent up energy? Sadly the answer is probably yes and even more sad is that afterwards they will return to that same oppressed state. Better surely, to recognise and fight back at the systems which have brought about this unhealthy and unnatural condition.

Light Relief

A little topical humour to hopefully cheer us up amid all the gloom.

The hair cut
One day a florist goes to a barber for a haircut. After the cut he asked about his bill and the barber replies, ‘I cannot accept money from you. I’m doing community service this week.’ The florist was pleased and left the shop.

When the barber goes to open his shop the next morning there is a ‘thank you’ card and a dozen roses waiting for him at his door..

Later, a cop comes in for a haircut, and when he tries to pay his bill, the barber again replies, ‘I cannot accept money from you. I’m doing community service this week.’ The cop is happy and leaves the shop.

The next morning when the barber goes to open up there is a ‘thank you’ card and a dozen donuts waiting for him at his door.

Later that day, a college professor comes in for a haircut, and when he tries to pay his bill, the barber again replies, ‘I cannot accept money from you. I’m doing community service this week.’ The professor is very happy and leaves the shop.

The next morning when the barber opens his shop, there is a ‘thank you’ card and a dozen different books, such as ‘How to Improve Your Business’ and ‘Becoming More Successful.’

Then, a Member of Parliament comes in for a haircut , and when he goes to pay his bill the barber again replies, ‘I cannot accept money from you. I’m doing community service this week.’ The Member of Parliament is very happy and leaves the shop.

The next morning when the barber goes to open up, there are a dozen Members of Parliament lined up waiting for a free haircut.  (but not of course Hazel Blears – she’s far too nice don’t you think?).

Dear Prince Charles Supporter

Yes, that’s you, like it or not you contribute to Prince Charles ever growing fortune.

His accounts, see BBC, were published today (not checked by the Audit Office of course) and show that his personal income increased to £16.4m while his tax bill decreased by 10%! Most of this income comes from the Dutchy of Cornwall which is not the private property of Charles, yet he takes all the profit. What the BBC site does not highlight is that earlier this year Charles was given a tax break worth £700,000 and the Dutchy receives ‘Grants-in-Aid’ of over £2m.

Happy to support the Royal spongers? Think of them the next time that you look at your tax deductions. The MP’s who had their snouts in the trough are mere piglets compared to the Royal Family.

Oh by the way; it seems that 2 butlers, 5 chefs, a personal dresser and 2 valets are tax deductable!

Military Families to Sue MoD…..Why?

Four families of servicemen killed in action in Iraq and Afghanistan by roadside bombs whilst in ‘Snatch’ Land Rovers are suing the MoD for compensation.

_45947434_comp226_modCome on! If you join the armed forces you do so knowing that there is a risk of injury, disablement or even death, it’s not all mountaineering, skiing and piss ups with your mates.

I feel very sorry indeed for the loss that these families must feel and even more sorry for the young men who died but no amount of money (even if they win the case which I doubt) will make up for it.

Lindsey Refinery

If like me, youhave been somewhat confused over the Total Lindsey Oil Refinery dispute, whereby Total are on the one hand sacking their ’employees’ and on the other hand calling them ‘contractors’ then this editorial should help to unravel some of the confusion.

New London Planning Authority

A report out today in The Times shows that there is a new and additional planning authority in London.

This authority is non other than Prince Charles, the unelected, unqualified, spokesperson for architectural Luddites. Yes, his power and influence now means that developers of major projects run their plans past Charlie before proceeding with planning applications to the democratically elected Councils and the Planning Officers. If this is what he can do now just think what he could do as a King!

Decisions must be made by those that we elect to act on our behalf and not made behind closed doors by people with power simply by dint of birth.

‘Carnage’ in Scotland

It’s a funny old World isn’t it? Sixteen cows on a farm in Scotland were struck by lightening yesterday and here’s what the farm manager had to say:-

Farm manager Jim McDougal said he had been “very upset” by the “freak act of nature”.

“It is a shocking thing to see. I felt numbness, it was unbelievable.”

“They were all either sitting or lying where they had fallen in a regimented row. I have never seen anything like it in my life.

His wife Elizabeth said: “Jim could not believe the carnage he saw.

Try going to an abattoir Jim, they have ‘regimented rows’ of dead cows in their thousands, every day. At least these cows died under a tree quietly chewing the cud rather than being in a concrete shed having a bolt fired into their brains.
